Incredibly, the strongest carbon fibers are 10 times stronger than steel but also much lighter—and by ingeniously overlapping them where the base meets the seat, Moooi’s chair can be lifted with a finger. Independent designers Bertjan Pot and Marcel Wanders teamed up on this indoor-outdoor seating made of individual strands of the high-tech material, interwoven with epoxy resin and colored an inky black. A union of dedicated craftsmanship and enlightened thinking, Carbon opens an exciting new chapter of creative possibilities.
