Japanese Indigo Kata-Zome Pillows, Pair

Description

Pair of hand-printed throw pillows in the Japanese style of Kata-Zome, a centuries-old Japanese stencil dyeing technique. It uses a paste-resistant process and is used to dye both cloth and paper. Kata-zome incorporates elements of printmaking/painting and relies on simple natural materials, often with indigo dye as it was first only available to royalty and Samurai. Fabric found in an estate of a world-traveling couple & recently custom-made into throw pillows. Light age to front.
